A great way to get into all grain brewing! These 10 gallon coolers work very well as mash tuns for five and ten gallon batches as you'll notice barely any temperature loss throughout your 1hr+ mash. Comes with a stainless ball valve cooler kit and a 12" stainless steel false bottom. The barb size on the mash tun for the output is 1/2". All metal parts are stainless steel. This is a complete mash tun and all parts are included so that it is ready for use. Some assembly is required. You can also select the option above to add a 3" dial thermometer with a six inch or two probe to the mash tun.
This makes the critical process of monitoring your mash temperature a cinch. The thermometer is a weldless dial thermometer and is installed just like the valve. We will drill the Igloo cooler and install thermometer. The thermometer is not included unless selected above. Our staff highly recommends the thermometer as it is an easy way to keep a close eye on the mash temperature without having to open the lid.
Your final option is to choose the ball valve. The standard ball valve is made up of a SS valve and a standard 1/2" bulkhead that will attach to the nipple that attaches to the false bottom. The upgrade to the heavy duty ball valve has the same SS valve but has the heavy duty bulkhead that is easier to install and allows for more secure and leak proof attachment.

After lots of research looking for a igloo or Rubbermaid mash tun with all the parts I needed, this site is by far the cheapest. Don't wast your time trying to piece it together either Learntobrew is still the cheapest price.

Held heat for the entire 60 minute mash. I wrapped the fiitings with a kitchen towel and tin foil. I used a 6.5 gallon bucket lid wrapped in tin foil and placed it on top of the mash to reduce heat loss through the top. I lost less than half a degree after 60 minutes. Would have rated it 5 stars but no assembly instructions were included. I had to look them up online.

I retract my last review - product is great, as-is. For the newbie's like me, the false bottom fits like a bowl would if you placed it at the bottom of the cooler upside down (opening facing bottom). The suction tube sits on top and aside from the small task of having to cut it to length, works great. Found it easiest to assemble everything, then drop the bottom in and leave the clamp for the fitting that connects to the valve loose so you can tighten the threaded portion by hand. then you can tighten the last clamp.
Don't go cheap and get brass fittings - these stainless fittings rock!!!

Hard to go wrong with an Igloo cooler and the fittings for the ball valve / thermo were installed well and are leak free. However, I may be too picky but the false bottom rigging needs some help. Being a rookie to AG brewing, I can only go by what I've read - the false bottom should fit snuggly against the sides - it doesn't. And the drain in the false bottom is centered which works but the false bottom is allowed to rock from side to side instead of sitting flat on the bottom. I've got a larger mash tun that has 3 legs on the false bottom for stability and fits the pot tightly. I improvised, using 3 nylon bolt/nuts to make 'legs' and all's good.

The product is awesome but being a first time brewer and not familiar with all the ins and outs of brewing I recieved the mash tun with shavings from the cut whole and the igloo in pieces for me too put together without instructions

Great for first time all-grain brewing. False bottom is definitely better than a manifold or a mesh hose. I got the 6 in thermometer and the hole was pre-drilled for a water-tight seal. Overall happy with the product and fast shipping.
