Sturdy, Great for constructing Igloo Cooler Mash Tun

Posted by Unknown on 14th Sep 2016

This worked great, but the instructions could be better. I used this to build my first mash tun for all grain brewing.

If you are installing this through the wall of a 10 Gallon Igloo Cooler, you will need several hole saws.

I needed a 3 inch hole saw for the Thermometer 3 inch dial to sit slightly recessed into the wall of the outside of the cooler.
I also then needed a 2 inch hole saw for the external nut to sit recessed within the foam under the dial face. I suppose you could also just try to make a 3 inch hole all the way down to the inner lining plastic, but this also removes more insulation.
Lastly, you'll need to drill a 1 inch hole in the cooler's inner plastic lining.

The less heavy duty thermometer model likely doesn't require as many holes because it doesnt have such a large external nut.

I hope this helps your mash tun construction planning.
